What the authority is responsible for
All public bodies use the Office’s maps and measurements. Sector boundaries are recorded as administrative lines; they do not establish border controls and may not restrict freedom of movement.
Services and registers
Sector boundaries since 1979
The register describes the legal course of the sector boundaries. Boundary markers are provided solely for orientation.
Mountains and waterways
The records include the Zuckerhut at 2,140 metres and the official lengths of the Mellita and Keto rivers.
Boundaries without barriers
The published lines are administrative boundaries. Travel between sectors requires no registration, checks or sector papers.
Legal basis
Surveying and Mapping Order 1980
The Order requires the Office to publish transparent map editions. Any change to a sector boundary requires a federal law and the consent of all four sectors.
